To promote golf amongst South African National Defence Force members in the Western Cape — in a fun, safe, and inclusive environment for all ranks and abilities.
We believe the fairway levels all ranks. Whether you're a single-figure handicapper or picking up a club for the first time, Defence (WP) Golf exists to give every member a place to compete, improve, and belong.

Club History
Five decades of tradition
Defence (WP) Golf was founded in 1975 and has proudly represented members of the South African National Defence Force in the Western Cape ever since. What began as a shared passion among servicemen and women has grown into a thriving, SAGA and WPGU-affiliated club — offering competitive league play, skills development, and a community that extends well beyond the fairways.

The club is established
Built by SANDF members in the Western Cape on a foundation of discipline, camaraderie, and a genuine love for golf. From day one, the club welcomed members across all ranks.
Early years · Affiliation
Official recognition secured
The club gains affiliation with SAGA and the Western Province Golf Union, securing official handicaps and league standing for all members — a milestone that anchored the club in the formal South African golf structure.
Growth era · Competition
Competing at national level
Regular participation in Arms of Service and SANDF championships, with members competing at the Standard Bank International Pairs. The club's competitive identity was firmly established.
Community · Growth
A thriving membership takes shape
The club evolves into a strong community for SANDF members across all ranks and skill levels, fostering lasting friendships on and off the course — the hallmark of a club built on more than just golf.
